Singing is a great learning activity that you can instill in your child. Teaching your child to sing begins with you singing to them. Toddlers at a young age love to hear their moms voice. They love to hear the different tones in your voice. Listening to you sing stimulates their eyes and brains and lets them hear different tons. First start with singing very basic songs. Gradually as your toddler gets older, he or she will begin to remembers that words that you are singing and begin to repeat it. This activity will encourage the development of your toddlers brain, memory, and speech. All of these things that things that we want to encourage as parents in our toddlers.
Toddler Doctors!
Around the age of two, many toddlers have already been to their pediatrician for bumps, scrapes, falls, colds or coughs. The experience often leaves a big impact on them. Parents cite that after a trip to the pediatrician, their toddler begins to play doctor on them or their siblings. Around this age, toddlers understand the concept of an “ouchie” or “ouie”.
Toy stores retail his, hers, or unisex medical doctor kits that are safe for toddlers to mimick their physicians. Look at the product package prior to purchase to confirm age appropriateness, as some kits may have tiny parts unfit for toddlers.
Even though your toddler will not understand the purpose for a thermometer or a blood pressure pump, they enjoy playing with these tools on their family. It is a good idea to encourage this imaginative play, as your toddler’s coordination and understanding of the world around him or her deepens through these activities.
